The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has issued a proposed rule, Section 1557, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, age, disability, or sex (including pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity, and sex characteristics), in covered health programs or activities.
Today, we’re joining LGBTQ+ advocates across the country in supporting the proposed ruling by HHS. We need YOU to join us! Submit a comment in favor of the proposed rule by September 25, 2022. Share your stories of discrimination with Admiral Rachel L. Levine, MD, MPH, a transgender woman, champion of LGBTQ Equity in Health Care, and currently the Assistant Secretary for Health for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
Your stories and experiences matter! Share your story here. Being able to share your stories about discrimination you've experienced because of your sexual orientation or gender identity/expression will help us demonstrate that federal protection against discrimination is necessary. Your story is real, powerful, and necessary.
